Patterns

John 14:12

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.”

John 5:19

“Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”

Jesus, you have given us the pattern over and over again

We, as your siblings, will follow

Lord, in your Word, you have shown us

You have told us

You have encouraged us to be bold

To be courageous

That you will be our strength

As David, we will face Goliath with weapons that are unseemly

As Abraham, we will move and be obedient with nothing in sight

As John the Baptist, we will announce the coming of heaven and Jesus Christ

We will live a life dedicated to you

As Paul, we will preach the Word in all boldness

We will preach the heart of Jesus, the love of Jesus, and the blood and sacrifice of Jesus

Like Job, we will sacrifice and suffer for you with the greater at the end

Like Deborah, we will judge, strategize, and fight for you

Like Mary we will sit at the feet of Jesus

Like John, we will experience your glory even in exile

And like so many more, we will live all for the glory of the Lord

And like Jesus, we will carry our cross

As in Him, so are we

We will abide in the Vine forever

The Vine that doesn’t stop and doesn’t quit

But as He intercedes, so do we

As He continues to pray for these nations, so will we

***Lord, we thank you for the endless pattern given in our Word to be selfless. We thank you that you have given us insurmountable lessons to learn that we can apply to our own lives.  Father, we thank you that you thought of us enough to leave this Holy Spirit-breathed guide for our entire lives. We will live by the Spirit every day of our lives, and when we mess up, Lord we thank you that you are right there to help us, pick us back up, and continue the journey. Lord, we repent for at times not following the true pattern of Jesus Christ, and we thank you that you have not condemned us for doing so. We are a new creature and a new creation in you. Let us use that which you have given us to give you all the glory. In Jesus’ Name—Amen.***
