Fear of the Lord
Isaiah 11:1-2
“Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”
The fear of the Lord brings about a respect and reverence for Jesus Christ and His followers, as well as those who do not follow Him. The fear of the Lord brings about love to the godly and the wicked. The fear of the Lord looks like compassion for the most hated person at your job.
The fear of the Lord is not wanting to do anything outside of the Holy Spirit that He has not approved nor ordained for you to do. The fear of the Lord moves carefully and with precision, moving “harmless as a dove but wise as a serpent” (Mt 10:16). This fear will have you moving in quick obedience.
The fear of the Lord is the result of knowing Jesus; knowing Holy Spirit as a person because He is. This will have you moving in reverential fear that cannot be matched.
There has been a lack of the fear of the Lord, because there hasn’t been a revelation of Who He really is and what He has really done and continues to do. There is not a revelation of Who the Lord is because there is a lack of revelation of self-identity. Where is this identity found? In Jesus Himself. In the very Word of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This identity is found in the Presence of your Father in heaven, which we know by the Spirit, is actually found in you.
The fear of the Lord brings about a respect and honor for whom you know God has placed in seats of authority and leadership. You will not slander nor speak of their name whether it be in public or behind closed doors. The fear of the Lord brings about and equivocates to integrity. It will have you seeing the hand of the Lord on someone and respect that mantle. “I respect and honor you because I see what God has placed upon you, and since I love and fear the Lord, I do not dare come against His hand.”
Numbers 12:8
“‘ With him I speak mouth to mouth, even openly, and not in dark sayings, and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant, against Moses?”’
Oh let the fear of the Lord return to this nation! Let the fear of the Lord place and force all to fall on their knees and to their faces with fear and trembling before you Father. Father, we repent for becoming careless in your Presence and with what you have given and blessed us with, and with even whom you have blessed and put in front of us to minister and witness to. Father, we repent for not taking you seriously nor whom you have assigned in places of authority. Let the fear of the Lord return to your church! The bride’s garments are shuffled, dirty, and have been used for prostitution. Father, deliver us! Father, I pray that many across the nation, and even across the globe will have encounters and even more encounters with Jesus Christ. Let our big Brother invade their space and turn their lives around 180 degrees. We thank you that you are bringing a swift, but needed revival to your nations Lord so the stage can be set for Jesus’ return, and so there can be such a move of your glory like never before. Let it come Father. Let it come. In Jesus’ Name we pray—Amen.
