Hands-Off

 Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Can I just give ya'll some life backdrop on this verse? I didn't know that this would be the verse I literally would have to live by. I grew up not even knowing the context of what even a relationship with Jesus looked like.  When I started to live on my own, I thought the scripture stickers you buy from Hobby Lobby was a cute additive to my wall for decoration. Ironically, the one that I had purchased was Proverbs 3:5. I would literally take pictures by it and everything, and did not even know God was trying to speak to me the whole time. I mean...the...whole...time.

Me and my husband had moved from San Angelo, TX to San Antonio, TX with job prospects but no actual j.o.b. set in place. We just knew that the Lord was giving us a timeframe to move, and that we needed to be obedient. The story is quite simple really. God said move and so we did. Now, was the transition easy? The transition was definitely not a walk in the park, but if what you're doing is truly what God had told you to do, then He will make a way. The Lord never falls short on His promises, and He definitely did not.

I am now seeing, when God tells us to move somewhere, it is for our own spiritual growth and His own specific assignment through us. It has been almost five years since we moved from San Angelo, TX, and ironically since me and my husband got married. Whoa! Are you gettin' what I'm writin'? Oh my goodness! Our ministry started when we got married. Our life together, our marriage together is the ministry! How did I not connect the dots? Wow! Anyway, moving on...

We now know, and keep learning, that God doesn't make sense majority of the time when He tells you to do something. There's always a learning curve, growth, or something He's given you that you have yet to discover.  We couldn't explain everything to everyone in detail because, even when we tried, no one completely understood. Now looking back, I am glad they didn't. It's like this secret you have with God that no one else knows about and, even if they tried, God hides it until He's ready to reveal. This life is set on God's time watch...not ours. I am learning what it means and looks like to die to my flesh. I cannot be and do what I used to do even if I had tried. Once you know what God has called you to do and you know Him, then decide to ignore the call and Him, you have just missed out on the best life God wanted you to have if you had only listened.

It makes me think of all the inventions, businesses, books, ideas, etc that are in the grave right now because those individuals didn't know their full potential in Christ. This statement makes me think of Dr. Myles Munroe who stated: "The wealthiest place on the planet is just down the road. It is the cemetery. There lie buried companies that were never started, inventions that were never made, bestselling books that were never written, and masterpieces that were never painted. In the cemetery is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential".

When I trust in God with my everything, I don't depend on my own overanalyzing self and intellect. In all my ways I know Him. I know my ways will be made straight. I know, without a doubt, that the Lord is a promise keeper. That if I just trust Him I know I can be made whole. If I just trust Him, I can get closer to Him. If I just trust Him, I can actually know Him. If I can just trust Him, He'll take me to places I never knew existed in the spiritual as well as the physical. My God! There is so much to explore we have yet to touch the surface of or even see, but if we could just trust Him.

***Let's Pray! 💜 Dear Lord, thank you for pursuing us and being a relentless, jealous God for your children. You always pursue. It is us who run. We say we're waiting on you, but God let us see ourselves. Let us see, sit down, and listen to what it is you would want us to do. God, remove anything in us that is not of you. Search our hearts and deal with each and every one of us. We cannot move around as effectively as you would want us to with spiritual baggage. Deliver us Jesus from ourselves! From those open doors and portals we have knowingly or unknowingly allowed the enemy to come in and run ruck shod over us. God we repent! We want to move where you move. We want to see what you see. We want to talk how you talk. This life is not of our own, so we don't even want to act like it is. Jesus you are worthy, you are mighty, and you are most holy. We will praise your name forevermore, and it will be that much more exalted by our lifestyles. Lord, you have blessed each and every one of us with unique gifts and talents, but to use collectively for your glory. Let us not get caught up in how well we do things without giving you the credit you are due. You deserve it all and then some. We love you Lord and honor you. In Jesus' Name-Amen.***
