Discipline

Hosea 6:6 (NASB)- "For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings."

Ever since me and my husband moved here to Jacksonville, Florida, the Holy Spirit has been hitting me hard with discipline. Let's define the word shall we: control gained by enforcing obedience or order; orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior; self-control; training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character; a field of study; a rule or system of rules governing conduct or activity (Merriam Webster, 2023).

Having a consistent, set schedule to commune with Jesus is harder than you think when you think of the laundry list of things you may have 24/7, 365 days of the year. However, having set appointments with Jesus is not hard when He's the priority and not the after-thought. With every new level, there are new devils. With every new level, there are even now higher responsibilities that are required of you. You can't play with the kiddos anymore drinking milk. Now it's time to buckle down and sharpen those incisors in-order to chew on some meat (Hebrews 5:12-14, NASB).

God is calling the body of Christ to grow up! One evidential criteria of your spiritual maturity is how much time you spend with the Lord in comparison to how much time you spend on other things. How much is your salvation worth to you? How much is God worth to you? I really feel this and believe that God is calling those who take Him seriously as He is of us. I just got through listening to Apostle Tomi Arayomi, and he was teaching about this and hitting on some hard truths concerning the season we're in.     It takes discipline to sustain obedience to the Lord. This obedience to God says, "I love you Lord. I reverence you God. I know Who you are. I respect you. I fear you. I know you are watching me and I respect your space." We have taught our children to respect and fear a big, creepy guy in all red coming down the chimney with gifts, rather than the Creator who has all the gifts! Come on! Where are our priorities? Discipline convicts us when we want to procrastinate instead of write the books God has told you to write years ago 🙋. Discipline convicts us when the Holy Spirit has given us a diet for the week, for our own health, and instead we slide in a Debbie-Cake. It seems simple and a "no-duh Chelseá", so why aren't we doing it? The answer: our fear of God is not big enough.

We see God as the God of grace and mercy, not the God who can take you out at a moment's notice because your time is up. God is both! I pray you take the beckoning and calling, and the urging, and the pulling of the Holy Spirit to buckle down. Be disciplined in your studies, be disciplined in your prayer time, and be loyal to the One who holds the power of life and death in His hands.

***Let's Pray! 💟 Dear Lord, thank you that you decide to rest in us by you Holy Spirit. Let us not neglect and even unappreciate your Presence. If we're curious and want to get to know you more, let us ask, learn, and seek your word for the answer (Matthew 7:7, NASB). Father, continue to impart upon us the discipline it takes to have those things promised to us. We know you are a provider, but we also know we cannot just sit around and not be obedient or move when you say to move. You are a God of changes and big changes at that. You want to see your children in prosperity, but you won't bring us there if you cannot trust us to sustain it. Thank you Lord for the hard truths we are forced to see of ourselves and those things that you reveal. Let us not get down on ourselves, but search your Word on how to do away with our flesh and renew ourselves in you. You are our fortress, our shield, and our helper, so let us look to you for our help. Let us go to you first when trials, tribulations, or stagnation seems to be in our midst. We love you Lord, we appreciate you, and we honor you through our discipline. In Jesus' Name, we do pray-Amen.***
