It's Not About You
Matthew 25:40 (NASB95)
“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”
We hear this statement all the time amongst the Kingdom community. That it is about Jesus and for Him to receive the glory. That we are to live a selfless life fully dedicated to the Lord. I literally write about it all the time. I promise you I am not leading to blasphemy or wrong teaching. The point of all of this is to truly look at, evaluate, and live a selfless life. How much of this life is truly not our own? All of it. How can we truly know this unless experienced and tested in some way?
Everything that was placed inside of us to do; everything we are gifted in all points back to Jesus. Down to our very own creation was not about us really but to magnify and exalt the Lord. Our eyes, mouths, the very words that we speak, and our overall work should be to glorify and represent Christ here on this earth; the true manifestation of sons.
I even, of course, think about our prayer lives. We can definitely pray for ourselves and our family, but at the end of the day Who is the One that makes it happen? 1 Corinthians 12 stands out a little bit more to me now in regards to us not being on this earth for ourselves or our own self gain. Yes, God does want us to enjoy nice things and to be happy, but to also know that we are here to literally serve one another while at the same time helping one another out. What an intelligent and forward-thinker we have in our Creator!
The more time I have with Holy Spirit, the more I’m humbled. The more time, the more I see inwardly and what’s around me. I have learned and still am learning when to speak and when to stay silent. This could be for my protection or simply because God is not finished yet. God can’t truly get and receive the glory if every step is mentioned during the process of transformation.
Even our trials, circumstances, and everything we’ve been through: what have you learned? These things might have been tests and/or opportunities to grow in Christ and to mature in areas needed the most for your next breakthrough. God has to build a strong enough foundation for the big things we ask for. God will literally build and format our capacity for the capacity of others. You cannot fill other cups with an empty one.
***Lord, I thank you for the new headspace you have brought and are bringing your children into. Thank you that we have endless opportunities to spend time with you, read and study our Word, and be filled constantly for the renewing of the mind. Thank you Lord for constantly changing and rearranging our minds and our hearts to align that with yours. You are a selfless God, Father, and Friend. We thank you that we can be this selfless as well. Father, thank you for turning the focus not on ourselves but for the needs and cares of other people. We thank you for never letting up and for never letting go of us. Even when we ran from the call you have placed on our lives, you still kept pursuing and for that we say thank you. We love you. Help us and deliver us from the idol of self. Deliver us from the opinion of man and how we think we will look in front of them. Father, may our only true focus be you. May our only true focus be to serve you and please you. If you are pleased and if you are happy then so are we. In Jesus’ Name, we pray—Amen.***
