Unveiled Heart
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (NASB)
“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.”
God has truly been showing me to love past what I see and even what’s been done to me personally. Just when I think I have reached a certain place in this area of His layer, there is definitely another layer. There are layers and layers to the love of God that I believe truly need to be experienced to even get an inkling of an understanding. Even after this I still believe it wouldn’t scratch the surface, and that is because true love was exemplified and shown to us on the Cross of Jesus Christ.
Are we willing to lay down our lives for another? Especially, if that other is saying “Crucify Him?” What has the world defined love to us as? Love should never be conditional but unconditional. Love isn’t telling you what you want to hear, but what God says you need to hear at that time and moment for your own benefit; even at the risk of never talking again. Love sees the wrong but knows the person God created, their original purpose and intention, and that love speaks to that person…not the one the enemy might be using at that time and moment.
This unveiled love shows you yourself in areas where you didn’t love and chooses to correct it for the sake of your own soul-salvation, but also for the salvation of the many others God has entrusted under your leadership. I see this unveiled love as a heart having many layers. Our heart is a muscle and the tissue of this muscle is tough. This muscle tissue has to be tough enough in order to pump blood throughout our entire bodies. Imagine going through every layer just to discover there’s another one. To me, this shows that loving others is not easy. You go through one tough layer to another.
It seems never-ending because God is never-ending, and since our Father is never-ending so is His love. God is love. God is eternal. God is Spirit. To fully surrender to the action and spirit of love, we have to fully surrender to the Lord. Then, and only then what seems unfair and not right, will only be the move of the Spirit. We see the move of God always as something positive, but sometimes it doesn’t always look like this. The Lord will allow things to test your heart, its posture, and your readiness to go to the next layer of love in Him. Situations and temptations are opportunities given by God to express His love.
***Lord, we thank you for your unveiled love being unveiled to us and through us to your people. Father, continue to work on us and our hearts. Heal us completely so that we could love from your heart and how you love. Lord, reveal any unhealed areas within our hearts and from within our souls that don’t align with you. Help us to straighten up and move according to your steps and from your perception. Help us to see others how you see them. We thank you for the different layers of love you have given us access to. We thank you for your grace and mercy at times where we needed your love and you sent someone. We love you and honor you. In Jesus’ Name, we pray—Amen.***
