The Art of Comparison

Numbers 12:1-2

“Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman); and they said, ‘Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?’ And the Lord heard it.”

Numbers 12:8b-10

“ ‘Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant, against Moses?’ So the anger of the Lord burned against them and He departed. But when the cloud had withdrawn from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous.”

Is it an art really?

Or is it just a trainwreck?

What have we really gained by doing this?

Why isn’t our own backyard watered yet with the seeds God has already given?

What does our own yard look like?

All questions to ponder

And even more to act on

Why am so concerned with the next person

When my own projects lay bare

Waiting on the next person, or me, to get to work and finish that which I started?

Finish!

Finish being the key word

How can we finish if not focused on our own project, backyard, systems at hand

Don’t we have stress and worries of our own

To focus on anothers?

This is not a call to be selfish

Because we always want to cheer-on our compadrés

But how easier it’d be to cheer them on

Knowing we’re working on something ourselves?

There’s no ill-intent behind cheering them on

But a genuine one

An applause that says, “Good for them. I am happy for them, and I wish them the best.

I pray all succeed to the capacity God has called them to.”

What’s the art of comparison?

It is a painting owned by one person

Whose painting is not all the way completed

The painting is a complete mess and all over the place

This painting represents the mind and heart of the comparer

There’s always this sense of not feeling complete within themselves

Due to the lack of identity in Christ

Identity, identity

Wouldn’t it be easier if we could all find ours?

The enemy has turned our eyes to others

While neglecting ourselves

And not just ourselves in a selfish way

But in way that does not search out the matter

Concerning God’s seed ie gifts He’s placed in us

What makes this more beautiful

Is that these gifts compliment others’ gifts

How can the painting be completed

If not working with others to complete it?

Working with and not against needs to be highlighted

The art of comparison is a trainwreck

Please do not find yourself on this web of lies

Don’t find yourself on this train of destruction

That leads to nowhere

And to a life going nowhere

Move forward

Search out the deeper things of God

Concerning you, Jesus, and all the mysteries He’d love to share

***Let’s Pray!!! Lord, we thank you for your patience with us. We repent for not being patient with you. For rushing you and trying to put a timetable on you. Lord, you are eternal, in the spirit there is no timetable. Only the ones we created. Father, we ask for forgiveness. We ask that you Father search us and identify to us what needs to be sifted and washed away. Lord, we thank you for what you have given us individually to work with corporately. Father, thank you for placing our focus back on what you have assigned for us to do for your Kingdom and not for our own gain. We worship you and will continue to honor you and your Presence forever. In Jesus’ Name we pray—Amen.***
