Pharmakeia

  1. The use or the administering of drugs

  2. Poisoning

  3. Sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it

  4. Metaph. The deceptions and seductions of idolatry

Revelation 18:23 (KJV)

“And the light of a candle shall shine: no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.”

As a nurse who truly believes in the healing power of Jesus Christ, I do struggle with handling and administering drugs to my patients. At the same time, I’m praying for their bodies to be completely healed and delivered from the spirit of death or whatever else is currently attacking their bodies. We don’t always know the decrees over someone’s life, but from what we see, we can always pray against it.

“Am I poisoning my patients? Am I a partaker of witchcraft?” These are the questions that try to run through my mind. I am reassured, by Holy Spirit, that this is training ground for me to be bold in the face of sickness, infirmities, and disease; to call out these things and stand for Jesus Christ whenever and wherever I can. I have been told that I was giving my patients “false hope” by telling them they will walk again or their speech will return. It’s a journey and not everyone will believe, but you have to start somewhere.

Never force Jesus on anyone who is not willing nor accepting (1 Cor 2:14-16). However, this doesn’t mean your life and/or testimony cannot be a witness to His movements in your life. Things you have experienced in your life and fruit that only God could have produced are perfect conversation-starters. Love on those who’ve been tricked by the enemy into thinking medication is the only way. Now, are there areas in my life I could have more faith in? Of course there is, and God is even growing my faith more in this one.

This does not mean you become too spiritual if you get sick to take Tylenol. I truly believe there is a grace in this area. I believe, when there is a dependency, and drugs have become your God and source of healing then we have an idol and altar that needs to be shut down and destroyed. “I look to my medication pantry before I pray”....we have an issue. Jesus has already declared that His stripes have taken away our sicknesses and diseases (1 Pet 2:24). I believe if we truly walk in these truths, we would see a revival in the healthcare system and not a dependency on pharmakeia, that swallows up our finances and messes up our body systems that are meant to heal themselves.

I am not a professional, but I have seen healings and miracles before my own eyes to know that this is how God wants to move throughout the earth. He wants us to set our minds on things above and not on these earthly things that we desire so much…including the use of polypharmacy (Col 3:1-4). I truly believe there is even a more holistic approach to healthcare that people are approaching nowadays by leading of Holy Spirit whether they know it or not (not Yoga, mother earth, Buddha, etc). Having a healthy diet, eating your healthy proteins and vegetables in their appropriate proportions, knowing your limits and not overeating, drinking water, replenishing your electrolytes, less and/or no consumption of sweets, and just flat-out use of discernment and leading and guidance of Holy Spirit are being used.

If any of what I have said offends you in some way, please take this before the Lord and pray about it. Maybe something inside of you disagrees because of an altar that has been erected unknowingly. I am not always right, and I continually pray for the Lord to show me myself.

***Let’s Pray!!! Father, we thank you for your discernment, for your leading, for your guidance, for your wisdom, signs and wonders. God, let us walk according to your Word and leading. Let us never be caught out of step with you. We want to walk in-step with you at all times. We know we are not perfect, so when we do step out of line, Father we thank you for your grace and mercy that pulls us back in. We will repent and not go back to our old ways. Father, bring us all to a place of surrender in regards to our health and our being. Father, let us truly believe that you are our healer, and that we are already healed by the stripes Jesus took for us. This isn’t a fathom of our imaginations, but a truth and a reality we walk in. We love you and repent for not taking you seriously, proven by our actions and dependency upon a system that runs on greed and science. We don’t worship science, but Lord, we worship and honor you. We love you. In Jesus’ Name we pray—Amen.***

  1. I completely agree. I worked in the pharmacy for a very long time and you see the manifestation of those who are addicted to medicine and the withdrawals. It’s all spiritual. We must continue to pray and live by the leading of the Holy Spirit. 💛💛💛💛

  2. This is really good! The subject at hand is dear to my heart. I’ve also seen the demonic side to the pharmaceutical world and it’s truly sad. It’s sad how before we pray for healing, we look to drugs and then when all else fails, we pray. My prayer also is that people will realize that Jesus is the source! JESUS BE REVEALED! 🩵🩵🩵
