The Potter and the Clay
Genesis 1:26-27 (NASB)
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created man in His image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
The potter and the clay. Whew! What else really can be said in this intimate, simple, yet profound metaphor? This metaphor/symbolism of how God really took His time with you and me to orchestrate and create such a masterpiece because everything God creates is not going to be second-hand. This should not build up pride in us or this pompous attitude, but better yet, it should even-the-more instill a humility.
This humility should stem from the mere thought of everything God did, and the time spent to create what He knew would do great things for His Kingdom here on earth. Just imagine every single detail from the spiritual to the physical. Every intricate detail is profound to me because of the fact He started with our spirit man and all that contains, and THEN formed us in our mothers’ womb to contain our spirits (Jer 1:5, NASB)! What a light you are created by the Father of lights! Like, thank you God! Then, and only then, our true Father gives us opportunities by leading us with the Holy Spirit to discover our true identity in Him. Whew! He is truly long-suffering, patient, and kind towards His creation.
There’s an overwhelming feeling of appreciation and a “want-to-do” better for my Father that runs deep. Am I always on-point or bursting with energy? Definitely not, but even still as my spirit strengthens, what can my flesh do or say anyway?
I was praying and I saw God literally doing a surgery on His people. I was led to several scriptures concerning the potter and the clay. I know for sure there is an inner-work being done on my husband and I, as is most people. I wanted to bring this up because it takes humility to be pliable; to want to change for the better nature of Jesus Christ. There’s a spiritual pride that can creep up and not want to budge because “I know all I need to know and no one can tell me different” or “I know that already” or “I knew it first”.
This is unacceptable in the Kingdom of heaven and is turned away from by God. How can He work with you if you won’t accept the mouth it comes from? We, as a whole, have to tear ourselves away from our flesh, and come to face those ugly things in our spirits that have accumulated over time, repent, be delivered, and move on. Look outside your window, social media, next door, and you tell me spiritual pride is really worth it. Our way is not always the right way especially if it did not come from Holy Spirit.
The mere appreciation and admiration of our Potter should make you want to be obedient to His guiding. This leads into trusting Holy Spirit to lead, to instruct, to guide into areas and places where sense no longer makes sense. But, as I mentioned, this also requires pliability which stems from humility. How much are you willing to release the reigns to Jesus? It definitely is unsure, scary, weird at times, but the spiritual realm is where we are supposed to be living. The spiritual realm is supposed to be our original norm, and not the “new norm”.
Recognize Who you belong to, Who made you, dig deeper into His presence daily, and live in His glory. This realm is higher and better and bigger than what you could dream or imagine. Recognize your Potter!
Isaiah 29:15 (NASB)
“Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, and their works are in the dark; they say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” Surely you have turned things around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; for shall the thing made say of him who made it, “He did not make me”? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding?”
Isaiah 64:8 (NASB)
“But now, O Lord, You are our Father, we are the clay, and You are our potter; and all of us are the work of Your hand.”
***Let’s Pray!!! Thank you Lord for your mercy that is extended across the globe. We repent for moving slothfully on what you have created in us to be. We repent for not even taking seriously what has been spoken over us; not praying into those things, seeing those things into manifestation. Father, you have given us this authority to shut down lesser, demonic authorities. You have written and inscribed upon us already our own unique areas of authority. Whatever has not been revealed, we pray Father, that you reveal this very thing now by the power of Jesus Christ. By the power of your blood Jesus, we call forth and command the West winds everything that has been stolen knowingly or unknowingly from us in the spirit, to blow in and bring forth restoration. We command the sun and moon to work on our behalf and not against us. Every curse that has been sent against us by these avenues, let their assignment be canceled now by the fire of God. We take our authority back, and will continue to stand on the wall of intercession and as guards for your Kingdom. In Jesus’ Name—Amen.***
