Mind Games
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
This scripture is used a lot and in so many different ways, and I know the meaning within context is Paul referring to not being ashamed of the gospel of Christ; to go out and lay hands, heal the sick, raise the dead, make disciples of Jesus, and more. However, this does not take away the characteristics described here that God has given us versus what He has not.
God has given us power, love, and a sound mind. A mind that, when renewed day by day (Joshua 1:8; Romans 12:2, NASB), has the potential to defeat all odds; that when confronted with what it seems like despair, lives in the spiritual realm to recognize and understand the true reality of it all. "Lord, I know what you are showing me. Now, please give me the wisdom on how to accomplish these things." Not everything comes in a handout for the exact instructions, but the things and steps that God can trust you with help build and put the puzzle together.
I titled this "mind games" due to the fact that this is what the enemy is trying to do to those who have been obedient, hand has been to the plow, are persistent in pursuing Jesus, and have yet to see fulfillment in certain areas of their lives. Doubt tries to creep in through your own words and mindset! Faith is being tested and matured throughout the entire process without you even knowing it. Me and my husband literally just talked about this, and God reminded me that I wrote this down as a possible blog one day last year.
I was led to jot it down due the current circumstances we were in at the time. Holy Spirit started revealing me to me; where I had fault, needed to repent, and needed more clarity on. Through rejection, I started to see people do things they were not doing, or they did do, but it was unintentional and I took offense. The enemy's plan was to pull me all to myself in bitterness so he could plant even more things in my mind to build even more offense.
What's your perspective? What do you speak and declare over your own life and current situation? Does is sound crazy to those around you? If it does, great because your faith speaks louder than their unbelief (Ephesians 6:16, NASB). I truly believe it's even more prevalent nowadays that our minds have to be rooted in Christ and His Word. There's so many distractions that can quickly tip you over the edge if you're not careful. Where and in whom are you rooted in? What and who is your foundation? Let it be Jesus! Depend on the firm, steady foundation that cannot and will not be budged!
***Let's Pray!!! Dear Lord, we repent on allowing the enemy to run, rule, and control our minds. Father, clean and clear us up anew. Reveal to us what needs to be cleansed so we can come righteously and humble before your throne with no baggage. Lord, lock down our minds with your Word. Let us be so consumed with you that we begin to know and say your words without ever looking at the word you spoke through our mouths. Father, you are a faithful Father and there is none like you. Anything that is not like you that remains lying and stirring in us, let this be completely replaced with your fire and your well that never runs dry. Let us see how you see your children, Lord. Convict us and correct our tongue when we want to say or do something outside of your character and your heart. We love you and honor you. In Jesus' Name---Amen.***
