Obsession with Position

 1 Corinthians 4:1, 9 (NASB)

"Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. For, I think God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men."

Proverbs 16:18 (NASB)

"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling."

I think it is time

And I cannot be silent

To address the elephant in the room

Whose smell is pungent

He puffs up his chest

And weirdly calls it humility

We see that it's not

And think "How silly"

This "he" that I address

Is not a person

It's a thing that creeps in

and causes you to worsen

Worsen over time

Based off of a title

What does it hold

If the definition is left idle

This thing is called pride

I think you understand

It's creepy, it's crawly

It holds no one's hand

It says, "I earned this position"

But really who called you?

Was it God's stamp of approval

Or the seminary based off of their own virtue?

This is a not a bashing session

To put anyone on blast

Just know what you're asking for

Because it probably won't last

Not last meaning

The wrong foundation

Jesus is our firm foundation

The cornerstone that cannot be shaken

"I want this position,

I want that"

But is it what you really want,

Or is it just a pat on the back?

A title or position

God picked you out for His glory

Is nothing to boast about

But another epistle to add to His story

What is a position or title anyway?

More responsibility?

The bigger the mandate

The more you die daily

So, don't be obsessed

With any position

God chose you, that's great

Develop the fruit and keep on pushin'

***Let's Pray!!! 💗 Thank you Lord that you have, and keep, renewing our minds day in and day out. You never let us get too far ahead of ourselves to where we think we are better than the next person. God, you have made each and every one of us uniquely and beautifully different that we don't have to compete or look down at the next person. God, you made us this way so we could work together in-tandem and not against each other. How can the legs work without the arms, or the head without the eyes? God, we thank you for allowing us to work as different parts of the Body of Christ. We do not take it lightly nor for granted that you have gifted us with different anointing and gifts. We will recognize where we are weak and need help from others and use it. Father, thank you for the help that you have created through our brothers and sisters in Christ. Yes, you have made us leaders in our own right, but in our own lanes. We will not use these roles as tools to treat anyone badly or cause harm to the next person, but we will use them in love and how you originally intended it to be used. We love you and adore you. In Jesus' Name-Amen.***
